Wearing face masks is the new norm. Without a mask we can’t enter various premises including schools, stores and hospitals. By now, a mask should be a part of your daily routine and if it’s not, you could be helping to spread the virus. If you’re still struggling with your mask, then you could be wearing the wrong kind. Below, you will find a guide on how to choose the best face masks to suit your needs. Don’t be a Floridian; wear your mask!
Different Types of Masks
When the virus was first reported, we were told to use N95 masks. The people panicked and grabbed all the masks, leaving us all in the dust. We were then told that any mask is better than no mask as long as there are no gaps. You don’t want your saliva or spit to escape, to potentially infect someone else. When it comes to choosing the best face mask for you, there are a few options you can try.
Cotton Mask- These masks are made of cloth and have a filter inside. They come in a variety of styles and colors so you can easily find something you will love to wear. Most cotton masks have at least two layers of protection and a filer. Cotton masks are also great because they are washable, as the CDC recommends that you wash them after each use.
Disposable Masks- If you know that you won’t be washing your mask daily, opt for disposable masks instead. These masks are lightweight, usually white or blue, and are at least 2-3-ply.
Masks with a Valve– A lot of people complain how they can’t wear a mask because they can’t breathe. If you’re one of these drama-queens choose a mask with an air valve. These masks are usually cotton and come with a replaceable air filter.
Bandanas – If you want a versatile mask, choose a bandana one. Make sure to place the bandana over your nose and lift the bottom half over the top. This way you get two layers of protection. For even more protection, place a filter or paper napkin in between the layers.
When choosing the best face masks, make sure that it covers your nose and mouth. For a leak-free mask, look for one with a nose clip and close chin fit.
